About The Position

Peer Support Specialists engage, inspire, and facilitate meaningful conversations with members served that assist the person to explore, create, and meet their own recovery goals. Peer Support Specialists provide consultation to the team to promote and reinforce Telecare’s Recovery Culture as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS), in which each member’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into services and self-help programming. Additionally, Peer Support Specialists respond to critical situations with high level engagement and de-escalation skills which support a least restrictive environment for individuals experiencing an emergency related to a mental health/addiction challenge. Telecare's mission is to deliver excellent and effective behavioral health services that engage individuals in recovering their health, hopes, and dreams. Telecare continues to advance cultural diversity, humility, equity, and inclusion at all levels of our organization by hiring mental health peers, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, veterans, and all belief systems. Telecare Yuma ACT is an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program for 50 adults, ages 18+, diagnosed with a serious mental illness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Peer Certification must be maintained throughout employment within 90 days after date of hire.
  • Arizona: obtain Peer and Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) certification through AHCCCS prior to hire date and maintained throughout employment.
  • Experience as a beneficiary of the Behavioral Health system of care
  • Valid and current driver’s license, and personal vehicle insurance with your name listed as a driver.
  • Willingness to use your personal vehicle to drive clients to appointments and groups, etc.
