The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) role involves providing peer counseling by drawing on common experiences to guide and encourage individuals in their recovery journey. This position requires developing and monitoring Individual Service Plans (ISPs), assisting individuals and families in setting self-identified goals, and maintaining regular contact through face-to-face visits and phone calls. The CPS will collaborate with natural families, school officials, and other team members to identify resources, provide side-by-side support and coaching for socialization activities, and encourage participation in community self-help groups and leisure activities. Additionally, the role includes coaching on basic individual living skills, documenting services provided, maintaining service need reports and treatment reviews according to standards, and submitting weekly reports to a supervisor.
