About The Position

Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join their Family Centered Treatment Team. This is a hybrid-remote, part-time role (approximately 15 hours per week) serving Fond du Lac, Columbia, Sauk, and Adams Counties. The role primarily focuses on supporting clients navigating substance abuse challenges and recovery. The Family Centered Treatment (FCT) team utilizes an evidenced-based, home-based trauma treatment model aimed at stabilizing or reunifying families by helping them identify practical solutions to keep families together in the community and treat inter-generational trauma. Peer Specialists use their lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges, combined with formal training and certification, to provide peer support. The role involves direct client support, documentation in an Electronic Health Record, collaboration with systems, and participation in supervision and a rotating on-call system.

Requirements

  • Background Check Required
  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and no more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years and no OWI’s in the last 3 years. No more than 1 OWI in the last 5 years.
  • Reliable transportation are required.
  • Wisconsin Certified as a Peer Specialist
  • The incumbent of this position must have a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required, and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge and application required. LSS uses Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years work experience with family systems, trauma, and/or SUD diagnoses preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (additional $1/hour)

Responsibilities

  • Work a flexible weekly schedule that includes some evening hours for client appointments, based on client/family availability.
  • Learn the evidenced-based framework of FCT and the four phases of treatment—including completing online FCT training supported by the supervisor and team trainer.
  • Provides direct peer support using methods compatible with FCT principles and practices for assigned cases and meets fidelity requirements for treatment intensity as part of a team of providers (5 hours per week per family). Caseloads vary depending on referrals for the FCT-Recovery program and depending on travel.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and timely documentation records in an Electronic Health Record system to meet state, county and EBP standards.
  • Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants to ensure buy-in and cooperation throughout FCT treatment.
  • Participate in weekly individual and team supervision and provide kind, direct, and honest feedback to team members, including participation in peer reviews.
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 phone support system that has been established by the team or as needed for clients that are engaged in Peer Support Services.
