Requirements

• High school diploma.
• One year of administrative experience.
• Complete Recovery and Wellness Action Planning (WRAP) and receive certification.
• Receive a minimum of 6 hours of direct supervision before working directly with consumers.
• Demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.
• Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records, Microsoft Office Suite and Credible EMR.
• Must maintain integrity, professionalism and code of ethics at all times.
• Must understand boundaries and cannot have dual/conflicting relationship with consumers.
• Must receive HIPAA training and abide by HIPAA guidelines when conducting official and unofficial Prestige business.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of related experience.
• Previous Peer Support Specialist experience and Certified in the District of Columbia.
• History of SUD and Mental Health personal recovery.
• Familiar with EMR (Credible).
• Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to individuals in recovery from substance use disorder to prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery.
• Share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.
• Assist SUD Director(s) with Level 1 and Level 2.5 recovery treatment programs, providing a minimum of 8 hours (Level 1) and 20 hours (Level 2.5) of substance use disorder treatment services weekly.
• Comply with all mandated services for providing treatment to behavioral health and SUD consumers, including structure, organization, training, human resources, staffing, policy, and procedure, as well as Prestige Health Care, DC Department of Behavioral Health, and Chapter 63 municipal guidelines.
• Participate in treatment planning services as confirmed by the SUD supervisor.
• Facilitate and co-facilitate groups, complete daily progress encounter notes for groups, complete WRAP progress notes, and ensure input of notes within 24 hours.
• Participate in mandated morning meetings and/or morning calls.
• Provide individual sessions daily to clients, with a minimum of 38 hours of weekly billing (individual sessions).
• Share personalized lived experience story in 1:1 and group settings to demonstrate that SUD recovery is achievable.
• Utilize self as a therapeutic presence, understanding the unique role of the peer.
• Attend trainings, seminars, workshops, and webinars related to job development.
• Receive annual training on SUD relapse, suicide prevention, interventions, and the importance of integrated health and mental health services with substance use treatment emphasis.
• Assist with record keeping via EMS, including uploading information to ensure consumer treatment files are accurate and updated.
• Provide recovery education to service recipients for all phases of the recovery journey.
• Check voicemails and emails daily and consistently, acknowledging and returning all communication within a 24-hour period.
• Communicate orally and in writing to supervisor, staff, peers, and consumers.
• Maintain integrity, professionalism, and code of ethics at all times, understanding boundaries and avoiding dual/conflicting relationships with consumers.
• Receive HIPAA training and abide by HIPAA guidelines.
• Assist clinicians with presentation of Orientation to new consumers.
• Provide personalized sessions with consumers not meeting target goals for on-going sobriety to stay on the 12-week Living in Balance Treatment course.
• Assist with Discharge Planning (if needed) and transition of care for SUD consumers.
• Encourage and assist consumers in self-advocacy, including behavioral health and SUD services.
• Facilitate recovery plans from an institute-implemented plan to a self-implemented one.
• Participate in weekly Clinical Rounds to monitor client progression in treatment and Company Level 10 meetings.
• Participate in weekly supervision from the Clinical Director.
• Perform occasional travel within the Washington, DC Metro Area.
