This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department. The Care Unit (Med Surg/Observation/Progressive Care floors) population are patients with complex acute conditions. This includes orthopedic surgical patients (inc. total joint replacements) and general surgical patients. We also care for patients who present with arrhythmias, chest pain, and/or have had a myocardial infarction. This lends to a great learning environment to help lay a strong foundation for a career in healthcare! As a Certified Patient Care Assistant in this unit, you will support our 43 bed Medical Surgical department along with our 28 bed Observation department. You will also float to the Progressive Care Unit as needed. Your approach to patient care delivery will be reflective of a pod-based model. RN's, LPN's, and PCA's work collaboratively and proactively to ensure coordinated care, whereby patients’ needs are anticipated and their expectations are exceeded.
