This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department. The 4th floor Med Surg unit is a fast-paced, 31-bed medical-surgical unit, with a patient population comprised of primarily post-operative patients, from advanced cancer removal surgery to laparoscopic weight-loss procedures in the bariatric population. As a PCA on our Medical Surgical unit you are responsible for vitals signs, blood glucose checks, weights, ADLs, I&Os, encouraging mobility & incentive spirometer use. You will be answering call lights in conjunction with our nursing team and also have the opportunity to cross train as a Health Unit Coordinator. We are looking for a team player who is ready to work and learn! This is a full time NIGHT shift position working three 12-hour shifts per week from 6pm-6:30am. We use a rotating weekends and holidays schedule. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift coverage and also enjoy an additional 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.
