This position, within Anatomic Pathology Admin, is located in a new lab with windows and involves supervising the effective and efficient integration and management of a team and operations to provide gross dissection and autopsy services. The role defines performance standards, manages operations for consistent outcomes, plans, coordinates, and supervises personnel engaged in testing, and implements new technology. A key aspect of this role is providing primary training in gross surgical and autopsy pathology for Resident and Fellow Pathologists in support of the Pathology Residency & Fellowship programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages daily activities and the team to optimize operational processes and meet quality performance standards within the Gross Room Laboratory service.
  • Supervises personnel, selects new employees, assures staff are properly trained and meet competencies, identifies training needs, and is responsible for performance evaluation.
  • Develops and implements quality control/assurance program, including appropriate proficiency testing and peer review standards.
  • Maintains all required activities and documents to assure compliance with both regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to this laboratory.
  • Provides the primary training in gross surgical and autopsy pathology for Resident and Fellow Pathologists.
