About The Position

Boothby Therapy Services is seeking a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist to provide individualized instruction to students with visual impairments in Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts during the 2026–2027 school year. The role supports students in developing the skills, confidence, and independence to navigate their schools, homes, and communities safely and participate more fully in school and everyday life. Newly certified and experienced professionals are welcome. The position is described as both full-time in the heading and part-time in the posting text.

Requirements

A degree in Orientation and Mobility from an accredited program.
Current certification or eligibility for certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist.
Strong knowledge of independent travel skills, mobility techniques, and adaptive instruction.
Ability to individualize services for students with diverse needs.
Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Commitment to empowering students with visual impairments.
Final candidates will undergo background checks.

Responsibilities

Teach safe and effective independent travel, orientation, and mobility skills.
Assess each student's strengths, needs, and learning environment.
Adapt instruction using visual, auditory, tactile, and nonvisual strategies.
Develop individualized goals and service plans.
Collaborate with families, educators, related-service providers, and school teams.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
Advocate for accessibility, independence, and meaningful participation.
