This position is for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at Belle Springs Care Center. The role involves assisting the Occupational Therapist in planning, developing, organizing, evaluating, and directing occupational therapy activities in accordance with current rules and regulations. Key functions include facilitating Telehealth services, communicating with related departments, maintaining standards of practice, and interpreting procedures to staff, residents, and families. The assistant will participate in care conferences, discharge planning, and resident assessments, as well as instruct residents and family members in home programs and adaptive equipment use. The role also entails maintaining documentation, ensuring accurate billing, and performing administrative duties such as completing medical forms and reports. Therapy functions include assisting in interviewing residents to evaluate daily living skills, addressing goals in the Plan of Care weekly, determining appropriate treatment, scheduling services, preparing residents and equipment, demonstrating procedures, and administering therapy. The COTA will also instruct and supervise residents, assist in designing and adapting equipment, promote participation in various activities, and recommend modifications to treatment. Additionally, the role involves staff development through in-service education and participation in workshops, adhering to safety and sanitation standards, managing equipment and supplies, and upholding resident rights, including honoring refusal of treatment and reporting concerns.
