About The Position

Sheridan Community Hospital is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support our Rehabilitation Services team. In this role, you’ll work across inpatient, outpatient, and short-term rehab (swing bed) settings—helping patients regain independence and improve quality of life in a supportive, low-pressure clinical environment. Sheridan Community Hospital offers a practical alternative to high-volume urban healthcare settings. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current Michigan COTA license required
  • CPR certification required
  • One year of experience in: Short-term rehab, Outpatient therapy OR inpatient rehab
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to patient needs and scheduling

Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering therapy services across: Outpatient rehab, Inpatient care, Short-term rehab (swing bed program)
  • Implement treatment plans developed by Occupational Therapists
  • Provide hands-on therapy to improve patient function and independence
  • Monitor and document patient progress
  • Collaborate with therapists, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Maintain a safe, supportive therapy environment
  • Educate patients on exercises and functional therapy activities
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team training
