About The Position

E-Therapy is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for an Onsite Extended School Year opportunity near Lompoc, CA. This part-time position involves providing occupational therapy services to students in PreK-12 schools to support their participation in meaningful activities and promote independence in daily life skills. The role requires assisting with assessments, implementing treatment plans under OT supervision, providing direct therapy, collaborating with the educational team, documenting progress, and assisting with adaptive equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
  • Previous experience working as a COTA in a pediatric or school setting.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, theories, and interventions relevant to children and adolescents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and related service providers.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in documentation and record-keeping.
  • CA COTA License required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting assessments of students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and activities of daily living.
  • Implement individualized occupational therapy interventions and treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Provide direct therapy services to students individually and in groups, targeting areas such as handwriting, motor coordination, self-care skills, and sensory regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the educational team to integrate therapy goals into students' educational plans and classroom activities.
  • Monitor students' progress and document therapy sessions, progress reports, and other relevant information accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the selection and fabrication of adaptive equipment and assistive technology to support students' participation and independence.
  • Support the OT in educating school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies and techniques to promote students' occupational performance and functional skills.
  • Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings and provide input regarding students' occupational therapy needs.
