Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant program with the minimum of an associate degree.
  • Possess a valid state Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant License as required by the State of Michigan.
  • Current registration and licensure with NBCOT

Responsibilities

  • Help children overcome daily challenges by supporting their participation in meaningful activities through therapeutic interventions.
  • Deliver hands-on, play-based therapy in an outpatient clinic setting, following evidence-based, sensory-integrative, and developmental approaches.
  • Collaborate closely with licensed Occupational Therapists to develop, implement, and progress individualized treatment plans.
  • Track and assess client progress, contributing to updates in plans of care and discharge planning.
  • Educate families and caregivers on home exercise programs and strategies to support continued progress outside of therapy sessions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in alignment with clinical best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team of healthcare professionals to enhance each child’s functional abilities and overall well-being.
