About The Position

Fruitport Community Schools is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for the Eastern Service Unit. This is a full-time position that will begin with the 2026-27 School Year. The COTA will provide occupational therapy services as directed by an Occupational Therapist, collect and report data on student performance, and implement intervention strategies. The role involves working cooperatively with various stakeholders and establishing communication systems. The position is posted from May 27, 2026, until filled.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Full approval by the state of Michigan
  • Competent using a variety of technology applications.
  • Comply with all Michigan Special Education law/requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services as directed by Occupational Therapist.
  • Collect, record, and report data relative to student performance on individual goals and objectives as directed by Occupational Therapist.
  • Work cooperatively with Occupational Therapist, teachers, administration, students, and parents in a positive and supportive way.
  • As directed by Occupational Therapist implement a variety of research-based intervention strategies, continually assessing student response to intervention.
  • Establish communication systems between therapist and individual buildings, teachers, and parents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or Director of Special Education.
