About The Position

Otterbein Staffing Agency (OSA) is seeking caring and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTAs) to join their team. Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA) or its successor organizations.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with community/home health experience preferred.
  • Must be certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Must possess current license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant from the State of Ohio or made application for same.
  • Is eligible to take or successfully completed the entry-level certification examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation that is insured in accordance with Ohio requirements.
  • Maintains current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs occupational therapy procedures in the patient’s home.
  • Assists the Occupational Therapist in the evaluation process through observation and/or clinically derived surveys in areas including development of perceptual motor skills, motor coordination and sensory motor development and processing.
  • Assists Occupational Therapist in developing a treatment program aimed at improving the identified areas of function.
  • Instructs and assists patients in learning and improving functional activities.
  • Teaches basic principles of body mechanics to patients and families.
  • Instructs patients and family members on the proper use of prosthetic devices and in the use and care of therapeutic appliances.
  • Observes patient’s progress and response to treatment and reports findings to the Occupational Therapist.
  • Reports changes in the patient’s condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Modifies Plan of Treatment, as authorized by the physician, after subsequent authorization, instruction and supervision by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Prepares and submits clinical and progress notes in a timely manner and in accordance with Otterbein Home Health policies, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
