About The Position

The occupational therapist assistant assists the occupational therapist in carrying out a patient’s established plan of care. The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) will be accountable for the application of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals. They will utilize a variety of modalities as appropriate to enhance patient progress and instruct patients in varying programs appropriate to enhance performance and cultivate progress toward occupational therapy goals. The COTA will also communicate with and educate patients and their families regarding the plan of care, home equipment recommendations, considerations for additional rehab, discharge planning, home exercise program, self-administered treatments, and family assistance.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate from an occupational therapy assisting program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
• Associate’s Degree.
• State of Michigan Occupational Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
• American Heart Association BLS or equivalent.
