About The Position

San Luis Care Center, a Life Care Center of America facility, is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to provide direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). The facility is located in Alamosa, Colorado, surrounded by the Colorado Mountains and near The Great Sand Dunes National Park. They offer a supportive work environment and opportunities for professional growth within a network of over 200 skilled nursing facilities.

Requirements

  • NBCOT certified upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward.
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT).
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs.
  • Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Follow occupational treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising OT.
  • Chart appropriately and timely.
  • Utilize therapy software appropriately and accurately.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients.
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
