COTA - Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
About The Position
Elderwood at Hornell is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our skilled nursing and rehabilitation team in Hornell, NY. This is a great opportunity for a COTA looking to grow in a supportive, team-driven environment focused on high-quality patient care. We offer a collaborative therapy team environment, working alongside Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists with a strong interdisciplinary approach with Nursing and Social Services. You will treat residents recovering from stroke, orthopedic surgery, joint replacements, neurological conditions, general medical decline, and long-term care needs. Every day offers variety and meaningful clinical experiences.
Requirements
- Current New York State COTA license required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for working with geriatric / elderly populations
- Demonstrated willingness to uphold the vision and mission of the company by following the core values of Integrity, Teamwork, and Passion for Excellence and Reverence for the Individual.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in skilled nursing, rehab, or long-term care preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and rehabilitation goals
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions
- Accurately document patient progress and treatment outcomes in the EMR system
- Collaborate with therapy, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams
- Help patients improve independence, strength, and overall quality of life
