Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA), Per Diem Day Shift, Acute Care Therapy
About The Position
Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) you will assist in providing rehabilitation services for patients suffering from physical, mental, developmental problems, congenital or accidental issues, or post-surgery recovery. You will monitor patients, understand their health issues and requirements, and ensure they receive necessary support. Your role will involve helping patients with rehabilitative exercises and treatments as suggested by occupational therapists, assisting with daily living activities such as feeding and dressing, maintaining hygiene, ordering treatment equipment, and reporting patient progress to doctors. You will also document patient progress and adjust treatment plans as advised by physicians.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree from accredited COTA program required
- Licensed COTA in the State of Maryland
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Nice To Haves
- Site specific experience preferred (minimum of 1 site specific clinical affiliation required)
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing rehabilitation services for the patients suffering from physical, mental, development problems either congenital or accidental, surgery, etc.
- Monitor the patients and understand their health issues and requirements and make sure that they are provided necessary support.
- Help patients in working through the rehabilitative exercises and treatments as suggested by the occupational therapists.
- Feed the patients, dress them, change their beddings and help maintain hygiene.
- Maintain and order equipment’s used in the process of treatment and give regular progress report to the doctors.
- Document the progress report of the patients and make necessary changes in the treatment process as suggested by the doctor.
