Phelps Health Acute Care Occupational Therapy is an integral part of the inpatient care team, providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to adult and geriatric patients across medical, surgical, ICU, and specialty units. Our therapists collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, case management, and rehabilitation colleagues to promote functional independence, safety, and successful discharge planning. Our Acute Care OT team works in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment that values teamwork, clinical excellence, and supports continuous learning and professional growth. We serve Rolla, Waynesville and the surrounding communities in south-central Missouri.

Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current and unrestricted Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state where services are rendered
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Accepting new grads

Responsibilities

  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain after consulting with supervising OTR/L and makes appropriate physician contact as indicated.
  • Provides treatment to diverse diagnostic populations and completes supporting documentation according to hospital policy and State Practice Act.
  • Observes treatment affect, accomplishment of short and long term goals and recommends change to the supervising OTR/L, if needed.
  • Communicates collaborates with support personnel regarding treatment orders as directed by the supervising OTR/L.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition
  • Handle job responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Code of Business Conduct, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, appropriate professional standards and applicable state/federal laws
  • Other duties as assigned
