About The Position

The COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Requirements

  • NBCOT certified upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward.
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT).
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Follows occupational treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising OT.
  • Charts appropriately and timely.
  • Utilizes therapy software appropriately and accurately.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assists in the evacuation of patients.
  • Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance.
  • Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, pushes, pulls, stoops, walks, reaches, and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, and understands the English language.
  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs.
  • Demonstrates good body mechanics at all times.
  • Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
