About The Position

Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for its inpatient rehabilitation hospital in West Orange, New Jersey. The hospital provides care for individuals facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas.

The COTA treats patients with complex needs and challenging diagnoses under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This is a per diem/PRN role with a stated schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with weekday and weekend needs. Compensation is $42 per hour. Requirements

• Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Certified BLS, or completion within the first 90 days of employment, as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual patient therapy regimens under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
• Monitor patients’ responses to treatment and modify treatment during sessions as indicated, in collaboration with an Occupational Therapist.
• Complete appropriate documentation according to department policies and procedures.
• Participate in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.
