Join our rehabilitation team of over 50 clinicians (physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology) with the opportunity to work in one of our 3 outpatient locations and/or an acute care hospital with 154 beds. Our featured hospital units include medical surgical, same day surgery, intensive care unit, progressive care unit, behavioral health unit, emergency department and women’s services. At Haywood Rehabilitation, we value excellent patient care that ensures optimal outcomes, a collaborative team environment and a culture of respect. We employ a variety of specialty trained clinicians and feature one-on-one patient care. We offer flexibility that may include non-traditional schedules to best meet patient and employee needs.

Requirements

  • Applicants should be a graduate of an approved occupational therapy assistant program with curriculum approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant and Aide licensure by NC Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Assistant Association.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the treatment plan for patients set by an occupational therapist in the outpatient rehab clinic or hospital.
  • Monitor a patient's progress to make sure that they're successfully completing treatment.
  • Encourage the patient during their recovery process.
  • Help patients to improve their quality of life by finding solutions to their problems.
  • Teach patients with disabilities to become more independent.
  • Update patient records for the Occupational Therapist.
  • Teach patients, family members or other caregivers skills and techniques to help achieve the patients goals.
  • Keep the office, treatment room and equipment in good order.
