About The Position

Optalis Healthcare is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for their Skilled Nursing Facility in Muskegon, MI. The CNA will be responsible for delivering direct patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and grooming, as directed by the RN or LPN in charge. The role focuses on maintaining patient comfort and safety, adhering to departmental policies, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. The CNA will represent the facility with integrity and uphold its Core Values and mission, respecting the dignity of each person.

Requirements

  • State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • Ability to think and work independently and with direction.
  • Ability to communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Valid identification.
  • Comfortable using a computer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in long term care is preferred.
  • Prior experience with Infection Control is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct care to patients (bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc.) as directed by the RN or LPN in charge.
  • Maintain patient comfort and safety.
  • Follow all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Represent the facility with integrity, free of gifts or improper inducements.
  • Adhere to the facility’s Core Values and mission with complete regard for the dignity of each person.
  • Provide great patient care.
  • Answer patient calls and determine how best to help them.
  • Provide physical support for patients or residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
  • Turn and reposition bedridden patients.
  • Ensure patients or residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.
  • Obtain a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient conditions, treatment plans, and suggested activities.
  • Measure and record food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and report changes to medical or nursing staff.
  • Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.
  • Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in the urine.
  • Remind patients to take medications and nutritional supplements.
  • Note observations of patient behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
  • Stay up to date on CNA training and facility policy and procedure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
