About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary for the personal needs and comfort of patients. This role involves assisting with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, taking and recording vital signs, changing bed linen, preparing treatment trays and other supplies, and supporting nursing staff with various patient care duties. The position relies on established guidelines and works under close supervision.

Responsibilities

Assists in preparing the unit and patient room/bed for patient accommodation.
Assists and accompanies patients during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures with compassion and understanding.
Takes and records patient temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurements, documenting in CIS.
Reports any unusual incidents or observed changes in patient condition or behavior to appropriate personnel.
Assists patients with daily living activities such as bed baths, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, back rubs, and linen freshening.
Provides general care including positioning patients, pre- and post-operative care, and assisting with bedpan use.
Prepares patients for meals, serves food, and feeds patients when necessary.
Transports patients to and from designated areas of the hospital in a caring, considerate, expedient, and professional manner, ensuring identification bracelets are in place.
Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy and delivers them to the nurse or places them in a secure location as determined by the nurse manager.
Expediently answers patient call lights and assists patients with personal hygiene and other activities of daily living.
Maintains an attractive, comfortable, and safe environment for patients, focusing on room cleanliness, ventilation, lighting, and patient safety.
Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic healthcare environment by cleaning rooms and equipment, preparing for sterilization and disinfection, and promptly reporting damaged equipment.
Handles linen and supplies efficiently and properly.
Provides input for end-of-shift reports and CIS documentation.
Participates in unit quality assurance programs.
Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner.
Strives to promote the quality and efficiency of personal performance through participation in staff educational programs, continuing education courses, and specialized skill training.
Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests and procedures as directed by a Registered Nurse.
Collects patient specimens and transports them to the lab when necessary.
Assists with patient rehabilitation under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with the patient's care plan.
Runs inter-departmental errands for nursing personnel, such as transporting lab specimens or picking up medications from the pharmacy.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
