About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a paraprofessional person who is specifically trained, competent and performs assigned functions of personal care to the patient in their residence under the direction, instruction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN). The CNA performs duties of personal care given to chronically ill, disabled, and or terminally ill patients in their homes. The Certified Nursing Assistant will work with patient and families to provide them with personal care and assist in the delivery of activities of daily living. The Certified Nursing Assist with assists family members to care for their family member whenever possible and advocates for the needs of the patient. The Certified Nursing Assistant is a member of the IDG team responsible for supporting medical staff in administering care to the patient.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified as a nursing assistant in South Carolina
  • Registered with the South Carolina State Board of Nursing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing (Continuous)

  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (Continuous)
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance (Continuous)
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors (Continuous)
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception (Continuous)
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities (Continuous)
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (Continuous)
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (Continuous)
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations (Continuous)
  • Ability to work in a latex safe environment (Continuous)
  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions (Continuous)
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required (Continuous)

  • 1 year as a certified nursing assistant preferred
