About The Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors. The Certified Nursing Assistant is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties. Requirements

  • Must have an active Florida CNA license.
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess and maintain an Eligible/Clear AHCA Background Screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents according to their assessment and care plan.
  • Identify residents using wristbands or photo ID before administering treatments or serving meals.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, and electronic medical records in an informative and descriptive manner using authorized abbreviations.
  • Report changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Unit Manager or Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Report all observed accidents and incidents immediately.
  • Ensure resident rooms are prepared for admissions (bed made, name tags, admission kit).
  • Greet residents and escort them to their rooms, introducing them to roommates and others as appropriate.
  • Assist residents with comfort measures (e.g., getting to bed, providing water).
  • Inventory and mark resident's personal possessions and store their clothing.
  • Assist residents with packing for transfers or discharges.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents from vehicles as necessary.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and facility personnel to ensure adequate nursing services.
  • Create and maintain a warm, personal, positive, and calm environment.
  • Meet with nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas and improve services.
  • Ensure department personnel, residents, and visitors follow established policies and procedures.
  • Report all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent from work.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluid, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to supervisors.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Obtain vital signs.
  • Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care.
  • Assist residents with bath functions (bed bath, tub, or shower).
  • Assist residents with dressing/undressing.
  • Assist residents with hair care (combing, brushing, shampooing).
  • Shave male residents and keep hair on female residents clean shaven as instructed.
  • Assist residents with nail care (clipping, trimming, cleaning).
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • Treat all residents and families fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  • Ensure all nursing care is provided in privacy.
  • Knock before entering resident rooms.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse, neglect, injuries of unknown source, and/or misappropriation/theft of resident property immediately.
  • Honor resident's refusal of treatment requests and report them to supervisors.
