About The Position

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The CNA is responsible for providing and assisting participants of our Transitional Housing Program with activities of daily living, restorative, and supportive care. The CNA will also monitor health status and provide a safe residential environment for our clients.

Requirements

  • Must have an active California-issued certification or license as a Nursing Assistant
  • Have a CPR or BLS Certification
  • At least 6 months of experience as a CNA, preferably in a residential setting
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Experience working with the homeless population
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift light objects as required to perform daily duties.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office or medical equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and accurately complete required documentation.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to exchange information clearly with residents, staff, and supervisors.
  • Adequate vision to read reports, documentation, and other relevant materials.
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning common areas, maintaining bedrooms, taking out trash, and assisting with laundry and linen changes.
  • Monitor and review medication boxes to ensure accuracy and maintain up-to-date medication lists.
  • Assist with physician-ordered, self-administered medications and support timely prescription refills in accordance with facility policy.
  • Promote proper nutrition by providing basic education and ensuring the removal of expired or unsafe food items.
  • Ensure residents receive three meals daily; coordinate and deliver meals as needed.
  • Provide care in a manner that supports resident safety, dignity, and comfort, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Measure and record vital signs as needed, recognizing normal ranges and reporting abnormalities as appropriate.
  • Promptly report medical concerns, changes in condition, or emergencies to the supervising Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Monitor and document refrigerator temperatures daily to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Encourage resident engagement through socialization and participation in activities.
  • Follow standard precautions and infection control protocols to prevent the spread of illness.
  • Support the overall well-being of residents by addressing physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Complete accurate and timely daily documentation for each resident.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
