This is a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position in Acute Care for the Elderly at Aurora West Allis Medical Center, specifically on the 5 South Medical unit. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and monitoring vital signs. The CNA will also be responsible for accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Key duties include ensuring patient safety by keeping call lights within reach, collecting specimens, maintaining nursing supplies, and performing patient positioning and transportation. The position requires adherence to infection prevention policies and the ability to provide age-appropriate care. The role also involves tasks related to nutritional needs, skin integrity, and the provision of special patient supplies. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, duties may extend to removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and assess patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
