About The Position

The CNA is a member of Nursing Team who is responsible for performing assignments as delegated by a licensed Nurse. All assignments are performed under the supervision of an RN or LPN, in compliance with facility policy/procedure, within the scope of the CNA’s responsibility to provide safe care.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Valid and unrestricted NYS Certification as a Nursing Aide.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Must obtain Mandated reporter (2 hours) within thirty days from hire date.
  • Obtain within six months of hire: Supporting Recovery with Medications Addictions Treatment (MAT), Confidentiality related to 42CFR (3 Hours)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
  • Ability to work on a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to multitask and to work and function under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in meal/nutrition related activities including, but not limited to distributing meal trays to residents in their room and assisting residents with their trays in the dining room, offering and providing fluids (e.g. water, juices, tea, coffee, etc), offering and providing snacks/nourishments, reporting any changes in appetite, ability to consume food/fluid, and weighing residents, recording weight, and reporting significant changes to licensed nurse.
  • Assists resident in toileting needs, including but not limited to toxicology screening and collecting urine from individual patients.
  • Assists resident with daily living activities which include taking an interest in the residents’ involvement with activities and assisting with recreational activities, assisting with admission and discharge activities, accounting for linen and helping keep linen area neat and orderly, and reporting to unit nurse when unit supplies need to be replenished.
  • Participates in maintaining the Environment of Care by observation or notification of possible possession of contraband or items that do not belong to him/her, searches of room area in order to prevent patients from concealing dangerous contraband materials, reporting safety hazards and removing overt hazards, reporting any resident incidents, accidents, falls, responding to fire and/or disaster alarms, maintaining the residents room area by bed making.
  • Participates in the management of clothing for residents which includes conducting admission searches, conducting searches of patient’s personal belongings and body, reporting clothing needs, reporting need for clothing repair, arranging for and/or assisting with residents’ use of the washer and dryer on the unit, and performing sanitizing and safety precaution procedures required for on unit washer and dryer.
  • Participates in the surveillance, prevention, and control of infection by adhering to Infection Control Policies and Procedures, obtaining specimens and give to lab technician as directed, and measuring and recording vital signs (BP, T, P, R) and reporting any abnormalities.
  • Participates in the Continuum of Care and the Education of residents by assisting with/facilitating other exercise programs on the unit as directed, interacting with residents and communicating their expressed concerns, and attending scheduled meetings and In-service Education programs.
