About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides non-professional routine nursing care to the residents of Christian Community Homes and Services in accordance with facility and state/federal guidelines. This role requires flexibility in work assignments, especially during staffing emergencies, where the CNA may be asked to work in other areas. The CNA must be able to perform assigned duties, plan and prioritize actions, and obtain pertinent resident information. Key responsibilities include assisting residents with daily hygiene, mobility, restorative care, admissions/discharges, and monitoring their intake and well-being. The CNA is also responsible for identifying and reporting resident distress, symptoms, and needs, while respecting resident choices and rights. Participation in care plan updates, diversional activities, and maintaining a safe and clean environment are also crucial. Effective communication with residents, families, and team members, adherence to infection control procedures, and compliance with regulatory agencies are expected. The CNA will work closely with the nursing team and ancillary departments, promoting customer satisfaction and positive relationships. Attending training, meetings, and following work assignments are also part of the role. The CNA must maintain good personal hygiene and adhere to the facility dress code, and may assume additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an 80-120 hour nursing assistant course.
  • Must be registered to practice in the state of Wisconsin as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Ability to think and work independently and with direction.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Must have no lifting or bending restrictions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Bedside manner with a compassionate personality.
  • Willingness to work with all team players.
  • Must have an acceptable criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a health care facility is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provides non-professional routine nursing care to residents.
  • Performs nursing assistant duties as assigned and plans/prioritizes actions.
  • Obtains pertinent information regarding residents.
  • Performs procedures for daily hygiene and appearance (bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, nail care).
  • Demonstrates proper techniques for lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents.
  • Implements special care needs (incontinence cares, skin care, catheter care, colostomy care, turning/positioning).
  • Performs restorative care and range of motion as instructed.
  • Assists with resident admissions, discharges, and room transfers.
  • Assists and encourages residents with adequate diet, fluids, and supplements.
  • Recognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief.
  • Identifies and reports physical, psychological, or spiritual needs to appropriate staff.
  • Allows residents freedom of choice in daily living details.
  • Follows the resident plan of care.
  • Ensures resident rights are maintained.
  • Reports observed physical or verbal abuse immediately.
  • Participates in establishing and updating resident care plans and aide care sheets.
  • Encourages residents to participate in self-care.
  • Assists residents with the application of prosthetics.
  • Performs vital signs and obtains resident heights and weights.
  • Provides diversional activities to meet resident needs.
  • Cleans and sanitizes client areas, including changing bed sheets.
  • Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team members.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to actions to assure resident and staff safety.
  • Demonstrates proper infection control procedures and practices.
  • Complies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agencies.
  • Maintains an active working relationship with the nursing team and ancillary departments.
  • Promotes customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Participates in giving and receiving report from nurses.
  • Attends scheduled training seminars, meetings, and in-services.
  • Follows work assignments and/or work schedules.
  • Practices good personal hygiene and facility dress code.
  • Assumes added duties as assigned by Charge Nurse and/or shift supervisor.
  • Stays up-to-date on CNA training, policies, and procedures.
