About The Position

Join our vibrant team at Grandview Terrace in Sun City West, AZ, as a PRN Certified Nursing Assistant! We are seeking a compassionate individual to provide direct patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Duties include feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, moving patients, changing linens, and transferring or transporting patients.

Requirements

  • CPR and First Aid or ability to obtain (Required)
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (Required)
  • AZ Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Check assignment, schedule, note any special events scheduled for that day and extra duties specific to the shift and section you are working upon arrival.
  • Perform assigned duties as they fit into the day's schedule.
  • Answer call lights as needed.
  • Take vital signs as indicated and when requested.
  • Assist at meal times according to schedule.
  • Chart required information.
  • Attend Staff and In-Service Meetings. Each CNA must attend the required In-Services annually.
  • Assist in, and/or perform, responsibilities connected with admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Use aseptic technique in all care of residents to prevent spread of disease and infection.
  • Observe residents' physical condition, emotions, reactions to events, eating and report any and all changes to the Charge Nurse.
  • Maintain and renew certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Demonstrate the Sun Health Mission and Values.
  • Give general A. M. care to residents preparing them for breakfast (A.M. care consists of washing hands, face, combing hair, oral care, and incontinent care). Residents may wear housecoats to breakfast.
  • Assist residents in eating if needed when breakfast is served.
  • Give nursing care following breakfast, including bathing, shampooing, shaving, and hair combing.
  • Ensure all residents are dressed in street clothes by 10:00 a.m. and ready to participate in activities. Ensure glasses and hearing aids are in place and working order. Report any problems to the Charge Nurse. Escort residents to activity as scheduled.
  • Turn bedfast residents no less than every two (2) hours and change their linen as needed.
  • Offer dependent residents the opportunity to go to the bathroom or check for incontinency every two (2) hours or oftener.
  • Release restraints on restrained residents every two (2) hours; exercise them, offer fluids; and document this action on the chart. Check any resident that has been chemically restrained every hour.
  • Assist resident with pre-meal preparation before lunch.
  • Prepare residents and assist them in feeding in accordance with each resident's needs.
  • Escort residents to their room after meals. Take to the bathroom, give oral care, and assist them in lying down for a nap. Tidy up the room. Give fresh water and afternoon nourishment as indicated.
  • Assist in preparing residents for restorative nursing and Therapy services.
  • Perform nail care on a weekly basis or as needed.
  • Weigh residents and document weights as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
  • Bathe residents according to the schedule.
  • Empty trash and remove soiled clothing.
  • Assist with residents at activities during the P.M. Shift.
  • Assist resident with pre-meal preparation before dinner.
  • Assist or feed at meals according to resident's needs.
  • Perform nail care during the P.M. Shift weekly or as needed.
  • Do oral care including dentures, take to the bathroom and assist as necessary.
  • Assist in undressing and getting into night clothes. Remember part of rehabilitation nursing is to have the resident do as much as possible for themselves.
  • Fix hair according to resident's preference or as appropriate for bedtime.
  • Assist into bed, make sure the call light is within reach and give fresh water. Make hourly rounds on all residents after they are in bed.
  • Check residents every 2 hours during the Night Shift.
  • Check, clean, and/or take incontinent residents to the bathroom during the Night Shift.
  • Turn residents physically incapable of turning themselves no less than every two (2) hours during the Night Shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
  • Wash wheelchairs weekly as assigned.
  • Clean soiled equipment found in the dirty utility room every night.
