About The Position

Under the supervision of the charge nurse, the CNA performs direct resident care, assists with activities of daily living, and provides a safe environment for the residents. The Jewish Home and Care Center is a non-profit group in the senior living industry, serving the Greater Milwaukee area for over 100 years as part of Ovation Communities. They foster a team-work philosophy with effective organizational skills, continuous quality improvement, and a balance between professionalism and fun.

Requirements

CNA Certification
Must maintain complete confidentiality and discretion.
Read, write and speak the English language.

Nice To Haves

Long term care experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Works alone giving total care or assists residents with bed bath, tub bath or shower, perineal care
Provides dental, hair, nail, shaving, dressing, and undressing care, applications of make-up, hearing aids and eyeglasses.
Assists with elimination needs, providing and changing protective padding, toileting by offering bedpan, urinal or taking to bathroom, and Foley catheter cares.
Assists with ambulating, transferring, and positioning by using assistive devices such as walker, wheelchair, Hoyer lift, gait belt or lift sheets.
Answers all call lights promptly.
Encourages active participation of residents in meeting their needs by promoting individualized, restorative care, attending activities, council meetings, and family involvement.
Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weights.
Prepares, feeds and/or assists residents with meals, serves and removes trays, and encourages the use of adaptive devices.
Measures and records intake/output as required.
Passes nourishments, encourages hydration and food intake that is nutritionally balanced.
Observes and reports pertinent information concerning changes in behavior or physical state of a resident to the charge nurse.
Explains all procedures to residents before carrying them out.
