This position assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) receives patient care assignments from the registered nurse (RN) in charge and initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence. The role involves collecting and documenting data for assessments, relaying information via charting and communication with team members, and informing the licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition or needs. The CNA answers patient calls, takes vital signs, monitors behavior and physical condition, and assists with patient care activities such as baths, ambulation, feeding, skin care, and hygiene. They also perform procedures like dressing changes, ostomy care, toileting, and specimen collection. Additionally, the CNA prepares patients for discharge, stocks supplies, assists with clerical duties, orients new patients, and operates equipment. The role requires working in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
