About The Position

The Personal Care Assistant (Caregiver) provides various personal care and related paraprofessional services in accordance with an established plan of care. This role focuses on assisting clients in their homes, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Requirements

  • At least six months of experience as a Personal Care Assistant in a healthcare setting (home or facility)
  • Completion of a state-approved Nurse Aide or Personal Care Assistant course
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follow agency policies and procedures.
  • Work under the supervision of a designated supervisor.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including: Personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, oral care, skin care), Ambulation and mobility support, Meal preparation and feeding assistance, Dressing and grooming, Toileting and incontinence care.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by a nurse for specific clients, such as: Assisting with ostomy appliance changes, Reinforcing non-sterile dressings, Helping with mobility aids (canes, walkers, wheelchairs, lifts), Assisting with prescribed range-of-motion exercises, Measuring and preparing special diets, Monitoring intake and output, Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure), Assisting with external catheter application, Helping with the application of arm or leg splints.
  • Assist with light housekeeping to support the client’s self-care, including: Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, Washing dishes and doing laundry, Cleaning bathrooms and other living areas.
