About The Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors. This role involves creating and maintaining a warm, personal, and positive atmosphere, ensuring resident comfort, and accurately documenting care provided. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will also be responsible for assisting residents with daily living activities, monitoring their conditions, and reporting any changes or incidents promptly. Adherence to facility policies, procedures, and confidentiality of resident information is paramount.

Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, an 10th grade education.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the state.
  • CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents according to their assessment and care plan.
  • Identify residents before administering treatments or serving meals using wristbands or photo cards.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts in an informative and descriptive manner using authorized abbreviations.
  • Report all changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Report all observed accidents and incidents as soon as they occur.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected or known violations.
  • Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempts to access the facility’s information system.
  • Perform only trained nursing care procedures.
  • Ensure resident rooms are prepared for new admissions.
  • Greet residents, escort them to their rooms, and introduce them to others.
  • Make residents comfortable and assist with packing personal possessions for transfers or discharges.
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles.
  • Create and maintain a warm, personal, positive, and calm environment.
  • Participate in regular meetings with nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Report all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Participate in and receive nursing reports.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Make beds, put extra covers on beds as requested.
  • Measure and record resident temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs), and weigh and measure residents as instructed.
  • Ensure residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.
  • Answer resident calls promptly and check residents routinely for personal care needs.
  • Assist residents with identifying food arrangements and record food/fluid intake, reporting changes to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Keep resident water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water within easy reach.
  • Perform after-meal care.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and facility personnel.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Assist residents with daily functions (dental and mouth care, bath functions, combing hair, dressing/undressing).
  • Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linens when wet or soiled.
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations.
  • Observe and report skin breakdowns to prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.
  • Observe disoriented and comatose residents and record/report data.
  • Perform special treatments as instructed.
  • Immediately notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any resident leaving/missing from the facility.
  • Use only trained equipment and report defective equipment.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor resident refusal of treatment requests and report them to the supervisor.
