About The Position

Assists in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients in a long term care setting. This role is part of the Anna House skilled nursing/nursing home care department at SSM Health Sara Communities in Bridgeton, MO. The position is part-time, scheduled for 24 hours a week, with a day shift.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved nurse aide training program.
  • Passing grade on state of work location required exam.
  • Missouri State issued Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Oklahoma State Department of Health

Responsibilities

  • Receives patient care assignment from the registered nurse (RN) in charge and initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence.
  • Collects and documents data for admission assessment and reassessment, providing appropriate data to the RN and/or LPN for analysis.
  • Contributes to safety and quality care by relaying information via charting and communicating with team members.
  • Informs licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition/needs, patient complaints, and patient/significant other educational needs.
  • Answers patients’ calls for help, takes vital signs, and monitors their behavior and physical condition.
  • Assists with baths, ambulating, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and making beds.
  • Performs dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, and measuring/recording intake and output.
  • Competent in use of lifts, tubs, scales and other equipment as needed.
  • Prepares patients for discharge and accompanies them upon dismissal as indicated.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, utilizing time and supplies economically.
  • Assists with delegated clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcription of physician orders, and preparing patient medical records.
  • Orients new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
  • Performs mechanical and manual operation of equipment, recognizing common mechanical problems and initiating appropriate corrective action.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
