About The Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors. Edisto Post-Acute is a 113-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Orangeburg, South Carolina, seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to work weekend shifts. The facility emphasizes building meaningful relationships and providing exceptional resident care in a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • Current, active, and unencumbered South Carolina CNA Certification
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • 10th grade education minimum
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the state.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily nursing care and services to residents according to their assessment and care plan.
  • Identify residents before administering treatments or serving meals.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts in an informative and descriptive manner.
  • Report all changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Report all observed accidents and incidents.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected violations.
  • Perform only trained nursing care procedures.
  • Prepare resident rooms for admissions, including making beds and ensuring admission kits are available.
  • Greet and escort residents to their rooms, introducing them to others as appropriate.
  • Ensure residents are comfortable.
  • Inventory, mark, and store resident's personal possessions.
  • Assist residents with packing for transfers or discharges.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles.
  • Maintain a warm, personal, and positive atmosphere, and a calm environment.
  • Participate in shift meetings to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Report all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Participate in and receive nursing reports.
  • Follow policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Make beds and add extra covers as requested.
  • Measure and record resident's TPRs and weights.
  • Ensure frequent checks for residents unable to call for help.
  • Answer resident calls promptly.
  • Check residents routinely for personal care needs.
  • Assist residents with identifying food arrangements and record food/fluid intake.
  • Report changes in resident's eating habits.
  • Keep resident water pitchers clean, filled, and within reach.
  • Perform after-meal care.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and facility personnel.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Assist residents with daily functions such as dental care, bathing, dressing, and undressing.
  • Keep residents dry by changing clothing and linens when soiled.
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests and physical examinations.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Check residents routinely for personal care needs.
  • Observe and report pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent bedsores.
  • Report injuries of unknown source, including skin tears.
  • Observe and record data for disoriented and comatose residents.
  • Perform special treatments as instructed.
  • Immediately notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse if a resident leaves or is missing.
  • Use only trained equipment and report defective equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and report unauthorized disclosures.
  • Report allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor resident's refusal of treatment requests and report them to a supervisor.
