About The Position

MercyOne Centerville Medical Center is a 25-bed critical-access hospital offering a range of services including emergency/trauma stabilization, acute and skilled care, and specialized services like cancer, heart and vascular, neurology, pediatrics, primary care, surgery, and therapy. The hospital emphasizes personalized rural community healthcare. This role involves delivering nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing care to patients across all age groups (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Requirements

Certified Nurse Aide certificate required
Must be 18 years of age or older
BLS and Iowa Mandatory Reporter Adult and Child must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.
Cares for patients from infant to geriatric based on the scope of the unit.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and maintenance.
Visibly assesses patient’s safety needs, always working with safety as the first priority.
Works rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. May be required to float to other areas if needed. Takes call as defined by hospital policy.
Assists with unit cleaning and outdated product removal.
Passes food trays and assists patients who need help with feeding and tray set up.
Transports patients using the wheelchair or gurney.
Keeps patient rooms stocked with supplies.
Uses AIDET. 10-5 rule and makes consumer experience a priority.
Assists other staff as requested and continually looks for opportunities to help co-workers in the care of patients.
Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
