The Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant provides compassionate, patient-centered personal care including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding in accordance with the hospice aide plan of care. This role involves traveling to patients’ residences, including private homes and facility settings, to deliver hospice services in a respectful and professional manner. The CNA offers emotional support and companionship to patients and families, spending quality time to promote comfort, dignity, and quality of life. They also provide bedside vigil support as needed during end-of-life care, assist patients with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and range of motion exercises, and safely use and assist patients with durable medical equipment (DME). The CNA observes and reports changes in the patient’s condition, documents care provided, fosters a cooperative team environment, and provides support and education to family members and caregivers. Participation in required educational meetings and ongoing training is also expected.
