About The Position

Edisto Post-Acute is a welcoming 113-bed skilled nursing & rehab facility located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. We are seeking compassionate Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our team. At Edisto, we focus on building meaningful relationships and providing exceptional resident care. This role is crucial in providing routine daily nursing care and services to residents in accordance with their assessment and care plan.

Requirements

  • Current, active, and unencumbered South Carolina CNA Certification
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • 10th grade education minimum
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan.
  • Identify residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc., using wristbands or photo card files.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, and charts in an informative and descriptive manner using authorized abbreviations.
  • Report all changes in resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Report all accidents and incidents observed during the shift.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and report any suspected or known violations.
  • Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempts to access the facility’s information system.
  • Perform only trained nursing care procedures.
  • Ensure resident rooms are ready for new admissions.
  • Greet residents and escort them to their rooms.
  • Introduce residents to roommates, other residents, and personnel.
  • Make residents comfortable.
  • Inventory and mark resident’s personal possessions and store clothing.
  • Assist residents with packing personal possessions for transfers or discharges.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles.
  • Create and maintain a warm, personal, and positive atmosphere, and a calm environment.
  • Meet with nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas and improve services.
  • Report all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Participate in and receive nursing reports.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Make beds and put extra covers on beds as requested.
  • Measure and record resident's TPRs (temperatures, pulses, and respirations).
  • Weigh and measure residents as instructed.
  • Ensure residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.
  • Answer resident calls promptly.
  • Check residents routinely to ensure personal care needs are met.
  • Assist residents with identifying food arrangements and record food/fluid intake.
  • Report changes in resident's eating habits to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Keep resident water pitchers clean, filled with fresh water, and within reach.
  • Perform after-meal care.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and facility personnel.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Assist residents with daily functions (dental/mouth care, bath, combing hair, dressing/undressing).
  • Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linens when wet or soiled.
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations.
  • Check residents routinely to ensure personal care needs are met according to their wishes.
  • Observe and report skin breakdowns to prevent bedsores.
  • Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.
  • Observe disoriented and comatose residents and record/report data.
  • Perform special treatments as instructed.
  • Immediately notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any resident leaving or missing from the facility.
  • Use only trained equipment and report defective equipment.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor resident's refusal of treatment requests and report them to a supervisor.
