Certified Nursing Assistant-- FULL-TIME and PART-TIME Evening positions (2pm-10:30pm) – Central Nebraska Veterans’ Home-Kearney
About The Position
JOIN OUR TEAM!!! We are looking for FULL and PART-TIME EVENING CNA's (2pm-10:30pm). We are not offering PRN opportunities at this time. CNAs provide quality care for each member to maintain quality of life, maintaining dignity and confidentiality. They perform routine nursing duties in the general care of elderly members in the Veterans Home. CNAs prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications and treatments. Under the general supervision of a licensed nurse, provides basic nursing care, administers medications, and applies treatments for Veteran's Home members within the scope of the Nebraska Medication Aide Act, State of Nebraska Nursing Assistant regulations, and Veteran's Affairs regulations.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Completed a state approved 76-hour nurse aide training course and competency evaluation program.
- Listed on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry.
- Must successfully complete the Medication Aide course and be listed on the Medication Aide registry within the first year of employment.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of Nebraska Medication Aide Act, medication administration, and adverse medication reactions.
- Knowledge of regulations governing nursing assistants.
- Knowledge of practices and principles of providing basic nursing assistance.
- Knowledge of infection control practices.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Knowledge of abuse and neglect identification and prevention.
- Knowledge of safety principles.
- Knowledge of privacy and dignity principles.
- Skill in providing basic nursing assistance.
- Skill in administering medications.
- Skill in developing positive relationships with others.
- Ability to recognize adverse medication reactions and take appropriate action.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in exact detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and push/pull occasionally up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis.
- Ability to frequently bend at the waist and neck and frequently twist at the waist and walk or stand up to 90% of the shift.
- Ability to interact with members and others in a positive manner and be flexible to meet changing demands of the job.
- Ability to lift, turn and/or reposition members as needed.
