About The Position

This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant within the Home Health and Hospice department at SSM Health Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St Louis. The role involves assisting patients with a variety of nursing care services in their homes. The schedule is full-time, 40 hours a week, with shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. A Missouri State-issued CNA Certification and a Missouri State-issued Driver's license are required.

Requirements

  • Missouri State-issued CNA Certification
  • Missouri State-issued Driver's license
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) (if working in Illinois)
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (if working in Missouri)
  • Advanced Unlicensed Assistant - Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - Oklahoma State Department of Health (if working in Oklahoma)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry (if working in Wisconsin)

Responsibilities

  • Receives patient care assignment from the registered nurse (RN) in charge and initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence.
  • Collects and documents data for admission assessment and reassessment, providing appropriate data to the licensed nurse.
  • Relays information via charting and communicates with team members.
  • Informs licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition/needs, complaints, and educational needs.
  • Answers patient calls, takes vital signs, monitors behavior and physical condition.
  • Assists with baths, ambulating, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and making beds.
  • Performs dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, and measuring/recording intake and output.
  • Prepares patients for discharge and accompanies them upon dismissal as indicated.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with delegated clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcription of physician orders, and preparing patient records.
  • Orients new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
  • Performs mechanical and manual operation of equipment, recognizing common mechanical problems and initiating corrective action.
  • May perform point of care testing according to policies and procedures.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
