About The Position

The Preserve, part of Volunteers of America National Services, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) to join their team. The Preserve is located in Fort Myers, Florida, and provides Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Skilled Care Services (Post-Acute Rehabilitation & Long-term care). It is recognized among the Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News & World Report. The primary role of the Nursing Assistant is to provide routine daily nursing care to assigned residents in accordance with established facility nursing care procedures, as directed by clinical supervisors. This role involves performing routine resident care duties and tasks delegated by licensed nurses or therapists to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents, while ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and applicable facility policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • State approved nursing assistant course completion/certification, or enrollment in approved course per state guidelines.
  • Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the job without harm to self or others.
  • Ability to prioritize duties.
  • Ability to understand and follow work assignments.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
  • Compliance with Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening process.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a long-term care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assigned residents with routine daily nursing care in accordance with established facility nursing care procedures as directed by clinical supervisors.
  • Report any observed changes in resident condition as they occur.
  • Perform routine resident care duties and tasks delegated by the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or licensed therapist to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents.
  • Provide services in a manner compliant with all state and federal regulations as well as with any applicable facility policies and procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the practice of professional nursing in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act and standards for home health nursing.
  • Performs comprehensive assessments of client status, including physical, psychological, and environmental parameters.
  • Develops and/or follows an individualized Plan of Care that incorporates analysis of data and current scientific findings.
  • Provides skilled interventions aimed at achieving realistic client outcomes within a specified time period.
  • Reports changes and information necessary to modify and update the care plan to reflect progress towards goals (outcomes).
  • Consistently demonstrates competency with technical nursing skills according to personal and legal scope of practice.
  • Assessment skills as applied to the client, family/support system, and environment.
  • Teaching skills according to the client’s needs and within the context of the client’s environment, value system, and physical/emotional status.
  • Medication administrations.
