Assists nursing personnel in provision of basic care for residents and necessary unit tasks and functions in compliance with Pelican Care Centers' policies, procedures, applicable healthcare standards, and the Louisiana Department of Health. This role involves promoting the organization's mission, vision, and values by providing basic nursing care that addresses both psychosocial and physical needs, meeting communication needs, and demonstrating initiative and responsibility. The Certified Nursing Assistant will assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, performing age-specific care, and communicating any observed changes in patient status to the RN. They will maintain awareness of the needs of pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations, assist with feeding and fluid balance, explain care to patients and families, and answer questions within their scope of practice. The role also includes performing treatments and services within the scope of practice, communicating effectively with the team, coordinating with other departments for an interdisciplinary approach, and assisting physicians with procedures. The CNA must demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stress, respond to emergencies, and treat patients and families with respect and dignity while maintaining confidentiality. They will maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and other departments, meet documentation standards, and operate equipment safely. The CNA will coordinate and supervise patient care under the direct supervision of an RN, demonstrate knowledge of disease entities, and ensure medical and surgical asepsis is carried out during treatments.
