About The Position
The Definitive Observation Unit Certified Nursing Assistant (DOU CNA) provides direct patient care to individuals who require closer monitoring than patients on a regular medical-surgical floor but are not critical enough for the ICU. The position is at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas, and works 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. The posting’s responsibilities describe medical billing and claims activities, including review of coding and documentation in Epic, claims follow-up, staff training, monitoring billing workflows, and assisting with credentialing and compliance.
Requirements
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
- Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
Responsibilities
- Review coding, documentation, and claims in Epic to ensure accurate and compliant billing before submission.
- Submit and follow up on insurance, workers’ compensation, HMO/PPO, and other third-party claims through final resolution.
- Train and support billing staff, clinicians, and providers on coding guidelines, payer policies, and billing processes.
- Monitor charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, denials, rejections, and monthly accounts receivable reporting.
- Assist with provider and facility credentialing, process development, compliance initiatives, and resolution of patient billing concerns.
- Provide direct patient care to individuals in the Definitive Observation Unit who require closer monitoring than patients on a regular medical-surgical floor.
