About The Position

Join Mennonite Village as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Part-Time Evening Shift. This role is ideal for those looking to gain valuable healthcare experience while making a positive impact on the lives of seniors. We offer specific shifts: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 2pm to 10:15pm, or Sunday and Monday from 2pm to 10:15pm. This position allows for a balance between studies and earning an income. Mennonite Village is a not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with over 78 years of service, dedicated to helping residents live their best lives.

Requirements

  • Valid CNA certification in Oregon within first 120 days of employment.
  • CPR/AED required within first 120 days of employment.
  • Effectively engage and communicate with elderly individuals.
  • Exhibit patience, tact, and willingness to handle challenging situations.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Ability to deal with conflict with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Ability to accurately document activities of daily living.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and stress.
  • Compassionate bedside manner and empathy toward residents.
  • Understanding of and commitment to resident rights and dignity.
  • Criminal background check is required for new hires.
  • Must be able to pass a drug-free workplace screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in long-term care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to individualized care plans.
  • Provide essential hygiene and general care for residents' skin, hair, and more.
  • Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
  • Monitor and document fluid and nutritional intake.
  • Monitor and document vital signs.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to residents.
  • Motivate residents to participate in various activities.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts and gait belts.
  • Ensure safety during mobility and transfers.
