About The Position

Sheridan Community Hospital is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support our Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) team in a PRN role. This position is ideal for CNAs looking for flexibility while providing meaningful, hands-on patient care in a hospital setting. The role offers flexible PRN scheduling and the opportunity to work in both Med/Surg and the Emergency Department (based on census). It provides a supportive nursing and care team environment with meaningful patient interaction and direct care impact, allowing CNAs to gain or maintain hospital experience in a critical access setting. The role is based at 301 N. Main St., Sheridan, MI 48884, serving Montcalm County and surrounding communities, with commutes of approximately 45 minutes from Grand Rapids, MI and 60 minutes from Lansing, MI. It offers a close-knit, team-focused workplace with a balanced pace compared to larger healthcare systems.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required (or Certified/Registered Medical Assistant)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • BLS certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
  • Ability to safely assist patients with lifting and mobility needs
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and patient care skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical or patient care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
  • Support mobility, transfers, and positioning of patients
  • Assist with equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and bedside care tools
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and dignity at all times
  • Maintain clean, organized patient care environments
  • Perform basic clerical or support functions as needed
  • Communicate effectively with nurses and care team members
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
