About The Position

Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Med/Surg team. The Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care within the scope of training and certification and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA plays an important role in supporting patients with their daily care needs, promoting comfort and safety, and assisting the nursing team in providing high-quality, patient-centered care. This is a great opportunity for an experienced CNA or a newly certified nursing assistant looking to begin or grow their healthcare career.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or GED
  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant course
  • Current Illinois Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Previous CNA or healthcare experience preferred
  • New graduates and newly certified CNAs are welcome to apply

  • Ability to follow instructions and work under the direction of nursing staff

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding
  • Assist with repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and mobility
  • Obtain and document vital signs and other patient information as directed
  • Monitor patients and promptly report changes in condition to the appropriate nursing staff
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable patient environment
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed
  • Answer patient call lights and respond to patient needs in a timely manner
  • Assist nurses and other members of the healthcare team with patient care activities
  • Provide compassionate and respectful care while maintaining patient dignity and privacy
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, HIPAA, and hospital policies and procedures
  • Accurately document care provided according to established guidelines
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned
