The certified nursing assistant provides basic care for residents in the areas of bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, toileting, incontinence, transferring and feeding. Cooperative work is an expectation of the job and includes the ability to communicate changes in resident behavior, health, and family member concerns to the charge nurse. To work effectively and safely with other personnel in caring for resident's needs, to report to work on time and as scheduled, and to act as a role model for non-certified nursing assistants, and document resident care provided. 6PM-6AM RESPONSIBILITIES: HUMAN BEHAVIOR: Utilizes therapeutic verbal and non-verbal communication. Demonstrates empathy and caring. Communicates using an objective, non-judgmental attitude. Documents client information in the medical record using appropriate format, in a timely manner. Communicates change in resident information to charge nurse in a concise and timely manner. Demonstrates a self-directed approach toward the acquisition of knowledge and skills. Maintains confidentiality of resident medical information. Accepts responsibility for own actions. Behavior and personal appearance reflect a professional demeanor. Arrives for work on time and as scheduled. Any other duties assigned to you by your supervisor. DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE: Utilizes standard precautions in the delivery of resident care. Follows initial resident plan of care as established by the nurse. Collaborates with nurse to modify resident plans of care as necessary. Performs 1 person transfers safely, Performs 2 person transfers safely. Utilizes mobility devices, including wheelchairs, gait belts, hoyer lift, sit to stand lift, geri chairs, walkers and canes in a safe manner. Seeks help appropriately. Demonstrates proper body alignment with resident positioning. Performs toileting, hydration, walking, incontinence care, bathing, range of motion scheduled as ordered. Answers call light in a timely manner. Maintains resident's personal privacy while assisting with activities of daily living. Maintains the resident's highest level of independence in the performance of activities of daily living. Demonstrates proper performance of perineal care for residents. Demonstrates proper performance of oral hygiene for residents. Assures a safe resident environment. Cues residents appropriately to promote the highest level of independence in feeding. Responds to emergencies in a calm and organized manner.
