Requirements

Certified Nursing Assistant

Responsibilities

Provide basic care for students when they are injured or ill, and manage chronic conditions.
Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as hygiene and proper nutrition.
Work with school staff to ensure the physical and emotional safety of the school community.
Follow plans created by RN to monitor for signs of hypoglycemia. If signs are noted, conduct a finger stick blood glucose check.
Treat with orange juice via g-tube if indicated in nursing plan and medical orders.
If student has a g-tube feeding going while on the bus, monitor the pump for kinks, occlusions, or other issues and troubleshoot as outlined in nursing plan.
Monitor for signs of seizure activity. If student has a seizure, follow nursing plan and medical orders for student safety, timing of the seizure, and give sublingual medication if indicated.
Work as student's aide on the bus and work with the school nurse.
